This month’s spotlight interview is with our designer, Emma
In our recent blog, we had a little coffee catch up with our designer Emma to chat about everything from the digital landscape to her love of raw potatoes.
How long have you been at Seed?
2 years in September.
What department do you work in currently?
Design department.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Getting to work on a variety of projects and people everyday.
Describe your average day in 3 words
Making stuff pretty.
Since you started at Seed almost 2 years ago, have you seen it change?
Yes completely, with remote working now being available to all of us at Seed (due to you know what) I can now work from abroad when I want to, which means work life balance is great!
We’ve also grown heaps as a company with an expanding client base and Seedlings sprouting up all over the place. The Design team has also grown from just me to a team of 4.
Why did you choose digital?
It is the future for marketing, with everyone having access 24/7 to their devices, now means you can market to anyone at any time, anywhere in the world. If I designed a leaflet for a local event the reach might be a couple of hundred people (at best), but an ad for Google the reach could be anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 impressions (or more)!
What advice would you give someone who is new to the industry?
Keep up to date with the latest programmes and softwares, constantly learn new skills to always bring your a-game! Always keep an eye on what’s happening out there, in terms of trends or what competitors are up to. Don’t become stagnant.
How did you find remote working?
Loved it (and still loving it), I can still talk to colleagues throughout my day and keep up to date with what’s happening, but now I get to do it with my 2 doggies around me, perhaps wearing some comfy jogging bottoms and getting round to brushing my teeth at lunchtime haha! Not to mention from a cozy French neighbourhood surrounded by rolling hills and deer (in my back garden!)
What was your first job?
I worked in a little gift shop on a high street (whist at sixth form), called ‘Past Times’ that sold gifts from the past, basically vintage toys for children and CDs like “The Swinging 60s” and the likes of.
What’s something that you want to do in the next year that you haven’t before?
There’s not much I haven’t done, but actually my boyfriend and I are looking for a run down van to convert into a retro/ vintage camper and do lots of trips across Europe – now that would be awesome.
What’s the weirdest fact you know & want to share?
Eating raw potatoes isn’t poisonous, I know because I ate them all the time as a child, personally I blame the parents!
