My name is Lauren, I joined the team just under a month ago as an apprentice. Born and bred in Brighton- well, ‘Hove actually”, I wouldn’t consider myself living anywhere else, whether it’s being close to the sea or my friends and family. Brighton will always be home to me.
Before Seed
Prior to joining Seed, I finished college and further education with predominantly art and design based qualifications. Alongside studying, my working career had been in hospitality. Four years went by and I knew it was time to stop pouring the pints.
Working with Seed
I started with Seed at the beginning of March and was slightly apprehensive as this was my first experience of working in an office environment. I was delighted to find that the people here are a lovely bunch – making it a bit less daunting being the new girl!
A Different Start!
However, my experience so far with Seed has been unprecedented to say the least due to Covid-19. I had the grand total of two weeks in the office before self isolation took hold, and everyone took their laptops home. Working remotely has been challenging, but it’s been an opportunity for me to push myself and take on the tasks that are out of my comfort zone.
The help from the team at Seed has made the transition less unsettling and I have been made to feel really supported. Despite the adverse circumstances, it definitely has not stopped me from learning. I have a schedule where the team can add different tasks for me daily, so I’m getting a taste of each service that Seed provides.
Working with the Team at Seed
There’s a great sense of community and everyone is doing their bit to keep spirits and morale high, especially when there’s a competitive Friday quiz. As much as we have all adjusted well to remote working, I think we’re all looking forward to getting back into the office and back to normality.
What’s Next?
In a nut-shell, I’m thoroughly enjoying working at Seed, (even if I’m not in the office) and I can’t wait to see where this next chapter of my life takes me!
