On December the 9th 2021, we switched from our usual working day to help out at Whitehawk Food Bank to put together festive hampers for the most vulnerable people in Brightons community. The Whitehawk Food Bank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by the Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Seeds Mission: Giving Back to Our Local Community
Our trip to The Whitehawk Food bank
As an agency, we have compiled three main areas we would like to tackle during our endeavours of charitable work around our community. These include: the environment, vulnerable women and poverty. We have already started our journey with helping the environment through our beach clean we carried out in the summer. This was a fun day consisting of collecting rubbish along the seafront on Brighton beach (we also did this in the pouring rain even though it was meant to be summer!). Despite the setback of the weather, we managed to collect a mound of rubbish bags which we disposed of through the help of the council.
You can read more about this event here! We are currently working on our next environmental event, so stay tuned to hear all about that in the future!
Our next mission was helping our local community and giving back to people in need. For this, we teamed up with the Whitehawk Food Bank who let us volunteer at their centre for a festive morning in December. The Whitehawk Food Bank has done an amazing job at providing for and supporting people in need within the Brighton area. Since 2015, they have helped over 20,000 people and families, and are continuing to do so despite any roadblocks the pandemic has caused. A total of 30 Seedlings donated items from a list provided and we spent the day packing hampers ready to be delivered before Christmas.
How the day went
The Christmas hampers we put together were filled with seasonal gifts such as mince pies, Christmas puddings, festive chocolates, and hair and body gift sets. We had a group of Seedlings use their artistic skills to design and create the hampers for households, and the rest of us were putting together the hampers using the festive gifts we brought, as well as generous donations from the local community. The hampers we put together are going to be distributed across Whitehawk and the wider East Brighton area before Christmas.

What did we achieve?
In total, our donations weighed 158kg and during the morning we managed to pack 140 hampers for households across Brighton.
We would like to say a massive thank you to The Whitehawk Foodbank for teaming up with us and for taking the time to let us come in and give you a hand. It was a joyful but also enlightening morning for us all! Here’s to many more events of helping and giving back.
Our mission continues
Our team is busy planning our next charity event, our three areas we want to tackle are at the forefront of the list, so please let us know if you know of any local charities that we can help by either donating or volunteering!
