This month’s spotlight interview is with our PPC expert, Rowan
In our recent blog, we had a little coffee catch up with our PPC Manager, Rowan to chat about everything from how he got into digital, to what he enjoys most about Seed.
How long have you been at Seed?
I joined on the 1st of February so that makes it 6 months and 19 days
What department do you work in currently?
PPC – I’m a media executive
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Early morning meetings…
If you were not a media executive, what job do you think you’d have?
The host of Deadly 60.
What was your first job?
Boring answer, I had a part-time job as a waiter at a seafood restaurant when I was 14 – although I did have to clean the live crabs & lobsters in the tanks occasionally and that really wasn’t part of the job description.
Why did you choose digital?
When originally searching for a position in marketing I interviewed for jobs in print, digital, and sales – one difference between the industries that really stood out was how dynamic digital marketing is: in only two years the whole industry can change which means there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ ways of doing things, everyone is consistently learning together and it makes a job in digital a whole lot more exciting.
Since you started at Seed, how have you seen it change?
When I started working at Seed all I knew of the other employees was their work persona – It was great to finally meet everyone face to face and socialise outside of work for the first time as I really think that’s how you properly get to know someone. Since the office has opened back up it really does feel like you’re part of a team & i think it’s positively impacted the culture of the company.
What advice would you give someone who is new to the industry?
I know it’s boring but try to keep up to date with industry specific trends and innovations – an easy way of doing so is using a business news app like Feedly.
What are the most hair-pulling, extremely frustrating things you experience in your job?
When someone has their Zoom/Google meet volume playing out loud and i can hear myself talking through their mic.
When’s the last time you did something for the first time in your role?
This week: changing a client’s landing pages from a ‘.co.uk’ to a ‘.com’.
Are you team work-from-home or team work-from-office?
I’m team-work-from-both – I like to get down to the office 2 times a week but on call-heavy days it’s easier to work from home.
How did you find remote working?
I didn’t hate working from home, but it has made time pass alarmingly fast.
How do you imagine work life will be two years from now – back to normal or a mix of old and new?
Work life has already changed in the past 6 months so it’d be silly to say it won’t in the next 2 years – No more covid would be great also.
