At Seed, we realise the importance of giving back to the local community and that’s why this month we organised and participated in a summer beach clean. Our beach clean took place on Thursday the 19th of August and there was 26 of us picking up litter between Brighton pier and the west pier. With a lot of us Seedlings having grown up by the sea, we tend to take it for granted- it’s been our place to come to relax and have fun with friends and family during the pandemic. Looking after our beach is so important to us, not only for the environmental impacts but for visitors who travel to our beautiful seaside town. We felt it was only right to give back to something that helped us through the difficult times of the last year or so.
During the organisation of our beach clean, we wanted to raise money for a Brighton based charity that supported the mission of this event- so we chose to work with “The Green Centre”. The Green Centre was established in 2006 as a community environmental organisation to provide information and education on caring for our planet. The charity was established by former special needs header teacher Melanie Rees and local businessman Tony Nisbett.
Why We’re Supporting The Green Centre
The Green Centre’s program of activities is based upon a holistic approach to sustainable living called one planet living and includes the following principles:

Unfortunately, the lasting effects of Covid-19 hugely impacted The Green Centre’s fundraising events and income. At Seed, we’re aware of the importance of looking after our planet and protecting it for future generations to come. Seed is a certified member of B-Corp, which is accelerating a global culture shift to redefine business success. As a member of B-corp, we are legally required to consider the impact of our decisions on the community and the environment, this allows us to use business as a force for good.
We felt it was only right to gather our team together and put our hi-vis jackets on for a day of beach cleaning to support The Green Centres fantastic work.
