We started working with Tutor House, now a leading private tutoring agency in London, in August 2012, just 6-months after the company was founded.
Our challenge was huge. Take on the established private tutoring agencies in London with a complete newcomer to the marketplace. We had to out rank them organically to the most competitive keywords, and outperform against competitors with much larger Paid Search (PPC) budgets.
We knew our focus had to be on the long tail, targeting longer keyword phrases that were less competitive, but had higher intent to convert into clients for Tutor House.

After 3-months of hard SEO graft, we had increased both traffic and enquiries by a significant margin, proving that our SEO strategy was indeed working.
Our long term approach was to compete with the top keywords, and hit those coveted page 1, position 1 rankings for terms like “A-Level tutors”, “Tutoring agency London”, “GCSE tutors”, etc.

By far our most success with Tutor House has come from ongoing PR campaigns where we wrote and distributed press releases to key education journalists for local, regional, national and online publications.
These editorial mentions not only raised awareness of Tutor House as a leading private tutoring agency in London but also gave powerful backlinks from some of the most authoritative websites in the world.
Over PR coverage included a weekly column on The Huffington Post, editorial mentions in The Times, BBC News, ITV News, The Guardian, The Independent, Education Weekly, The Evening Standard and The Good Schools Guide, as well as many more online publications.
Competing against the biggest brands in Paid Search while keeping CPA (cost per acquisition) down to £16.
One of our biggest challenges was developing Paid Search as an effective channel with a minimal, and seasonal, budget against much larger brands in the marketplace.
We had to be extremely efficient with our budget, ensuring that every click was worthwhile, and every lead was great quality. So, our approach was to focus the budget on Search Ads and ReMarketing through Google, Facebook and Instagram.
We quickly found that while parents would make the initial enquiry via a search engine, a lot of our audience would speak to at least 3 agencies during their research stage. This behaviour meant that we needed to run ReMarketing / ReTargeting Ads to those that likely to enquire, but hadn’t yet.
We’re hugely proud of the fantastic results we’ve achieved with Tutor House, but more-so with the step forwards we’ve supported the business take with digital transformation of the marketing efforts.
